Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal Monday, October 5, 1914

Waynetown, Oct 5 - Alexander McClure, a well known citizen of Waynetown, aged 84 years, was found dead Sunday night just before the supper hour. He was discovered by his wife when she went to call him to his meal. Mr. McClure had been in failing health for more than a year. About a week ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis and had been ill since that time. On Sunday afternoon he was so much better that he and wife went for a walk and when they returned he said to his wife that he would sit in a chair in the kitchen. It was too warm there for Mrs. McClure and when she went and called to him later for the evening meal he did not respond. She hurried to his side and found that he was unconscious and at once summoned a physician but he died before medical assistance could be rendered. It is presumed he had another attack of paralysis. Mr. McClure lived practically all his life in and near Waynetown and until recent years was a well known stock buyer. He conducted a meat market here at one time and had a similar business in Crawfordsville. He moved away from here a few years ago and resided for a short time on a small farm south of Waynetown. He then moved back here and has since made his home at this place. The deceased was twice married. His first wife was a Miss Snyder and to them two children, a son, Fred McClure of Lafayette and a daughter, who married Cyrus Little and who died many years ago. After the death of his first wife, Mr. McClure married Isabelle Switzer, who with the son, Fred survive. Mr. McClure was a member of the Methodist Church at Waynetown. He was a man of ability, scrupulously honest in his dealings and was highly respected by all who knew him. The funeral services will be held in the Methodist Church at Waynetown at 10 Tuesday morning. The interment will be in Wesley Cemetery. -- kbz
